Fear not; for I have redeemed
you; I have called you by name; you are Mine (isaiah 43:1)
"You are Mine!" It is God Himself who says this. The words are so
simple that they cannot be misunderstood. To be His! His very own
possession! To belong to Him! Simpler, more glorious, more precious,
more beautiful words were never uttered by His lips. "You are Mine!"
"I have called you by your name" This is not something impersonal,
something spoken to a mass of people, so that simply anybody may
apply the words to himself, regardless of who it may be. Certainly,
anyone who believes may take these words unto himself. But this does
not mean just anybody. God has called you by name - by your name. It
is to you the words are addressed. It is you who are His.
For it is you who have been purchased: "I have redeemed you!" His
right of ownership to you has been dearly paid for: He gave His life
to redeem you. What makes this possible is His sacrifice and His
work in your behalf.
Therefore, fear not. You are redeemed; you are called by name; you
are His.
